What a nightmare it is trying to get Ellie to walk to heel (I appreciate she is still very young). At times she does so well. This is usually on her 'familiar' walks down the Ash Path (which is what we tend to call it, in reality it is really called Seaton Burn Wagonway). She is getting there (at times).
BUT, take her anywhere 'new' or 'exciting' and she looses the plot!
Me and Les had her back down Tynemouth beach today, she very nearly pulled his arm off with excitement. She is SUCH a strong dog that I don't think I could take her to the beach myself, as I think she would pull me over! She just loves the beach so much, and can't wait to get on the sand with the rest of the doggies. Ellie had a good hour off lead, then we had a little sit down.
She was having none of it though, and was desperate to get back into the sea with the rest of them.
I think we have a long road ahead getting Ellie to walk to heel, but I am determined to keep it up. Les wont always be on hand when I want to take her somewhere new, so she I have to make sure I can walk her safely. I have given up buying harnesses and leads to help, as I realise training is the only thing that will give us the results we want.
