Well I think Ellie is coming into her first heat. Over the last week she has been urinating a lot more when out on walks. Today she has been very 'attentive' to her bits. I think the biggest hint that she is in heat is her mood! She is so reserved this evening! She actually looks depressed lol:
She is such a lively dog (at all times) that this drastic change is a bit of a shock! I remember Pepper used to change dramatically during her heat, initially quiet and reserved, then more boisterous and frisky.
I really wish there is an easier way to spay. The operation is not a small one, and I am not sure we really want to put Ellie through it at all. It's probably silly reasoning, as, a few days discomfort/pain would probably save a lifetime of stress twice a year when she is in heat. I will see how she deals with it over the next week or so.
I suppose I should make the most of the peace, as I'm sure the 'old Ellie' will reappear soon enough
